Bogotá, December, 2017. After having completed the handover of the modern airport terminal with a new area of 48,000 m2, capable of leveraging the competitiveness of the country and contributing to a steadily growing economy, Odinsa (affiliate of Grupo Argos) continues to position El Dorado airport as the best in the region and establishes itself as a leading company in road and airport concessions.

The expansion made by Odinsa, through its concessionaire Opain, had an investment of more than COP 420 billion (USD 148.8 million) and increased airport capacity to 40 million passengers per year. Furthermore, six jet bridges, three VIP rooms, and more than 25,000 m2 of new commercial areas allowing the entry of nearly 30 brands were added. The following are some of the brands: Dufry Duty Free’s Hudson, Tech on the go, The Market Place, Gaira Café, Attenza Duty Free, Archie’s, la Plaza de Andrés, Wing Paris Croissant, Papa Johns, Inkanta, Monthblanc and Dufry Duty Paid.

Today we are proud to present to Colombians and the world a state-of-the-art airport that offers the best experience to more than 100,000 users on a daily basis. As a result of an excellent support and a broad service portfolio, passengers will witness, in their visit to El Dorado, a competitive Colombia in constant growth,” stated the President of Odinsa, Mauricio Ossa.

Expansions have provided El Dorado with a total area of 1,000 hectares, six VIP rooms, 90 contact points for passenger aircrafts, 28 international airlines, and the capacity to mobilize 8,200 pieces of luggage every hour as well as more than 700,000 tons of cargo per year, and to connect nearly 40 million passengers with 47 national destinations and 49 international destinations.

Currently, the airport has a 4-star rating and it is recognized as the best in South America, according to Skytrax. It holds the number one position in the region for cargo traffic (mobilizes approximately 70% of the total airfreight of Colombia) and has third place for passenger traffic in Latin America. In addition, it is the first airport in Latin America to receive the Airport Carbon Accreditation by the Airports Council International for Latin America and Caribbean.

The evolution of El Dorado over the last years and the results obtained are evidence of a management plan developed with diligence, integrity, experience and sustainability, by Odinsa and its concessionaire Opain. It seeks to position El Dorado as a major international airport connecting Colombia with the world and operating under the highest international standards of user support.
